Founder and CEO

Caren brings over two decades of diverse expertise to her role, driving sustainable growth across fields like democracy, human rights, governance, economic development, and technology and innovation. Armed with a solid academic foundation and enriched by participation in prestigious accelerator programs, Caren possesses a unique skill set in business development, project management, and community development. At Caryle Enterprises, she leads a waste-to-value initiative focusing on circular pathways, aiming to minimize the impact of climate change through waste elimination and nature regeneration. Under her visionary leadership, two impactful circular innovations have emerged: 'Dignify Her,' addressing menstrual health challenges by upcycling textile waste, and 'Urban Organic Food,' recycling agricultural waste into organic fertilizer for sustainable farming. Caren's commitment, rooted in her childhood experiences in Kisumu city's slums, is reflected in the organization's mission to eliminate waste and pollution. With a profound connection to the community, she envisions a future where everyone thrives in an inclusive and environmentally sustainable society.

Emily Rogena

Director: Circular Economy & Sustainability

Professor Emily Rogena is a distinguished professional holding a dual role as Director at Caryle Enterprises and a Professor in the School of Medicine, specializing in Anatomic Pathology and Forensic Pathology. With a wealth of expertise in the medical field, she contributes to the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases. Beyond academia, Professor Rogena is a skilled farmer and community development practitioner, showcasing a unique blend of medical and agricultural proficiency. Her in-depth understanding of the interconnectedness between education, agriculture, health, and socio-economic development positions her as a versatile and insightful leader. Professor Rogena excels in providing strategic advice and collaboratively working with diverse stakeholders, including local communities, governance officials, civil society organizations, and private sector partners. Her commitment to sustainable development and social justice has established her as a highly effective and respected professional.

Olivia Lilliane Achieng Onyango (HSC)

Director: Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement

Olivia brings over two decades of experience in conflict resolution, governance, democratization, public policy, and compliance management. With an MA in International Conflict Management and a BA in Economic & Public Administration, Olivia profoundly understands international development and human rights. Her expertise extends to navigating various countries' intricate social, cultural, and political contexts. She is a seasoned professional with a strong track record in resolving complex disputes, employing alternative dispute resolution mechanisms such as negotiation, mediation, and arbitration. Her strategic advisory role extends to collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including local communities, government officials, civil society organizations, and private sector partners. Olivia is well-versed in conducting compliance reviews, identifying potential risks, and developing mitigation strategies. Her extensive experience includes stakeholder consultations, evidence gathering, and producing high-quality reports that offer actionable recommendations for improvement. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, Olivia builds trust, facilitates dialogue, and effectively manages conflicts. She is adaptable to fast-paced, multicultural environments, demonstrating strong analytical and writing skills.

Vera Omondi

Director: Finance & Human Resources

Vera Omondi is a highly accomplished Deputy Regional Manager at KUSCCO with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, majoring in Accounting and Finance, and a minor in Human Resource Management. She is an expert in risk management, accounting, and credit control, with a demonstrated ability to drive organizational success through strategic financial planning and management. Vera is passionate about community outreach programs and environmental conservation, and has consistently sought to create positive impacts through various initiatives. She has a strong track record of building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, such as clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies, which has contributed to her success in managing complex projects and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. With excellent communication and leadership skills, Vera has been instrumental in leading teams to achieve outstanding results while promoting a collaborative and supportive work culture. She possesses exceptional problem-solving abilities, a keen eye for detail, and a strong work ethic, which have earned her the trust and respect of her colleagues and clients alike.
